William Schuth

William Schuth is a member of the Deadly Writers Patrol.  After completing of culinary school and an internship with a private chef in 2002,William put down his chef’s knife,hung up his toque,and enlisted as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps.  At the School of Infantry William was pulled out of formation and sent to see SOI’s Master Gunnery Sergeant,who offered him placement in an undermanned communication MOS.  William eventually attended Delta Company,Marine Corps Communication-Electronics School 29 Palms and gained two additional occupational specialties in tactical digital communication.  He also discovered a fascination with (not necessarily bordering on love for) the desert Southwest,despite a staunchly Minnesotan perspective on climate and weather.  Following training he was assigned to Headquarters Battery,2nd Battalion,11th Marines aboard Camp Pendleton,CA.  In February 2004 he was attached to Echo Battery 2/11 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom II. While in Iraq,Echo Battery participated in Operation Ripper Sweep and was employed by Regimental Combat Team 7 as an counter-battery fire artillery unit,a provisional rifle company,and an international border security force in several areas around the Al-Anbar Governorate,including Camp MEK/Fallujah,Haditha Dam,Al-Asad Airbase,Camp Korean Village,FOB Waleed,and FOB Trebil.   Following 2/11′s 2005 return Stateside William became the battalion’s Assistant Data Chief.  William left the Marine Corps to continue his education and is working toward his Ph.D. in Military History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison,primarily centered on civil-military relations in Madison between 1915-1975.  William joined the Deadly Writers Patrol in 2010 and is working on Twelfth General Order,a collection of fiction.
